Yet another gadget for Google Desktop, this one lets you remotely interact with your Squeezebox devices via Slimserver and/or Squeezecenter. It kinda looks like this (well, in the unlikely event of you listening to Venetian Snares)

Download - Slimserver Controller v1.4.1 (For Squeezecenter 7.0 users)
Download - Slimserver Controller v1.4.0 (For Slimserver 6.x users)
Features
- Displays the album cover art for the current track
- Supports multiple players
- Displays a popup notification with details of what track is playing *
- Play, pause and skip tracks
- Track progress bar
- Switch the player on and off
- Change the volume
- Play a random mix
- Set the shuffle and repeat modes
- POP-out details panel with detailed track information
- Jump to the main Slimserver Web UI
* To enable this feature you need to turn alerts on for this gadget via the “Configure Gadgets” option in Google Desktop.
Support
The gadget looks best detached from the sidebar and “floating” on the desktop, this was how it was designed to be used.
Please remember to configure the server address and player name in the options (right click ยป Options). Also note the display update is not quite realtime (as this would place too heavy a load on the Slimserver), it’s controlled by a refresh interval (also in the options) the default is 10 seconds, but it can be quicker if you wish.
Currently this gadget isn’t fully compatible with the new SqueezeCenter 7.0. It does work, however you need to change the server security to “none”. The Random Mix option is the only feature I’ve found that doesn’t work. All of this is something I will address and fix soon…
Change Log
| Version | Date | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| 1.4.0 | 22-Nov-2008 | Added the track progress bar and ability to jump to a position in the track, also now shows the album art in the POP-up alert |
| 1.3.0 | July-2007 | various bug fixes and improvements, such as being able to hide the album art |
| 1.2.7 | July-2007 | Much improved and more efficient than the first release. I found and fixed a serious performance bug, and a bug where the buttons would stop working (thanks to Microsoft’s stupid caching defaults in Internet Explorer), so if you’ve downloaded v1.0 or 1.2 please download it again to update to the latest version. |

Wow, what a great gadget. Latest version with the option to turn off album art is great.
Took a while to figure out how to install it though, double clicked on it in frustration and bingo!
Have now spent even more time hunting album art.
Hi! Great gadget!
It’s just that …:
1. I download 1.4, but it says 1.3
2. I’m able to skip songs and even tune the volume, but I get “Failed to connect to “, and it don’t find any players.
best regards
